The after school sports programme and annual bespoke sports projects all encompass our values and ethos around providing open access, free and purposeful sport and exercise to all children and young people to enjoy and excel. We also use a targeted approach to engage girls and young women, those at risk of exclusion and anti-social behaviour and individuals with special education needs and disabilities.
Our sports programme offers free sports activities for young people aged 5-19 years during term-time and the school holidays and is open to young people whatever their ability. Our football pitches and basketball courts offer some of the best facilities in London for young people and our diverse activity programme means that there’s something for everyone Drop in sessions and regular competitive (and slightly less competitive) tournaments ensure that young people have the opportunity to showcase their talent, meet new friends, build their confidence and broaden their horizons.
For many young people, our programme will give them their first opportunity to play sport and in particular introduce them to new sports that they may never have known existed.
To keep up to date with our plans, please sign up to our mailing list here – We will also be updating this page and our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages with regular updates. “Since she was 5 years old SA loved playing football and from the age of 8, started accessing our football development programme. Initially quiet and a little timid, SA has grown to be a confident young woman who is well liked and popular in her community as well as establishing herself as a formidable competitor. We have been delighted to give SA opportunities to really excel in a sport she loves, including playing in the Coram’s Fields football team, where she would consistently find herself to be the only girl in the entire league. Our sports team supported her to attend tournaments and helped nurture her talent by providing bespoke, 1:1 sessions, focussing on fitness and skills. Despite almost always being the only girl on the pitch, she let nothing discourage her, if anything, the lack of female players made her more determined to play and enjoy football.
In November 2021, at the age of 15, SA’s hard work and resilience paid off as she was offered a football scholarship to play for Arsenal Ladies Junior Development team. She was of course extremely excited to be given this opportunity and is now focussed on honing her skills to become a professional footballer. We’re proud to say that Coram’s Fields helped to set SA off on her career path and are delighted to have been able to give her opportunities that she may not have otherwise had. The Sports Development Team will continue to support her as she takes on new challenges and we at Coram’s Fields wish her every success for the future.”
Our Sports Programme is generously funded by incredible organisations who want to support the mental and physical wellbeing of local children and people.
Oak Foundation is proud to support the sports programme at Coram’s Fields. This is a special place, providing a supportive, positive and healthy environment for children and young people from the local community. We love that Coram’s Fields is all about inclusion and it welcomes everyone with open arms to come get involved in sport and build friendships and confidence in the process
