05 Dec The Lambs Conduit Street Christmas Festival in aid of Coram’s Fields
When: Thursday 7th December, 12-8pm (The reading of A Christmas Carol starts at 3pm)
Where: Lambs Conduit Street (at the corner with Rugby Street), Holborn, London WC1N
Our wonderful friends, the traders of Lambs Conduit Street and Rugby Street, are holding a Christmas Festival, with an amazing programme of events and special offers aplenty.
A highlight of this event will be a public reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the junction of Rugby Street. The twenty readers who will take it in turns to tell us this festive tale feature both local and notable readers, including
Alastair Stewart, Jon Snow, Tim McInnerny and Mary Nightingale, among others.
You’ll no doubt be spoilt for choice with food and drink. The newest addition to the street La Fromagerie will be offering some magical mince pies and savoie toasties. On the street, chestnuts will of course be roasting on an open fire, helping fill the air with that familiar Christmas smell. The esteemed Noble Rot will keep your thirst quenched with signature mulled wine and grape juice on the street before finishing with a Christmas cocktail tipple at The Lamb.
Meanwhile, Oliver Spencer will be offering candle pouring by the amazing natural fragrance and skin care brand Haeckels, plus a special Christmas writing event in store with stationery supremo’s Y Studio. Other sartorial treats include 20% off at Folk, complimentary gift wrapping at Aesop plus, the chance to design your own bespoke Christmas stocking at Susannah Hunter.
As you mosey past Maggie Owen, marvel at the A Christmas Carol / Victorian themed window display whilst helping yourself to a variety of Dickens themed sweets and ‘What the Dickens’ Rugby Street punch. Next, keeping with the literary theme, head to Persephone Books for some smart gift wrapping worthy of the words within it.
Of course, no Christmas is complete without buying a ticket of two for the Ciao Bella and Lambs Conduit Street Traders’ Christmas Raffle, to be in with a chance of bagging a whole host of prizes such as Grenson Shoes, Ciao Bella hampers and an Oliver Spencer £250 Gift Voucher. The draw will kindly be made on 20th December by resident and friend of the street, Mr Rupert Everett, with all proceeds, again, going to Coram’s Fields.
