Emergency Appeal

The Emergency Continues

The Covid-19 crisis has forced us to turn to our community for vital support, in a way we’ve never needed to before.

The generosity of people and organisations in our community has helped Coram’s Fields to be resilient through the pandemic so far. By donating, fundraising and helping us to spread the word about our Emergency Appeal you have helped raised crucial emergency funding to help keep our park, playgrounds and services open for those who rely on us most. Thank you.

Our community has done so much already. But the emergency continues.

As we continue to remain open, our facilities and services will continue to be a lifeline for the children, young people and families who need us.

Whilst we are so proud to remain open, we face the huge ongoing costs of running our seven-acre site without being able to raise essential funds due to the national restrictions. Every day, we miss out on around £1,500 in income from not being able to hire our football pitches and our halls. Our pitches are our single biggest source of income, and this is a critical loss.

We have been able to significantly reduce our expenditure to help protect ourselves, including utilising the Government’s furlough scheme. We have raised further emergency funds through Trusts and Foundations, but we continue to face devastating losses into the future.

We are doing all we can, but we still need all the help we can get. Please help your community through this crisis by donating to our Emergency Appeal today.

If you have already supported us, thank you so much. People you know may want to support Coram’s Fields too. Please share our Appeal with friends or on social media.

A community in crisis

Through this lockdown, families across our community face job losses, increasing financial pressures and staying at home in overcrowded accommodation. Hardships are exacerbated by home-schooling, without space or resources to do so. Our services teams have been going above and beyond to help. We have been offering one to one support to families, from homework help to family fitness sessions to delivering activity packs, we have been here every step of the way. Our open green space is the back garden for the thousands of families who don’t have one at home.

Local children and young people battle worsening mental and physical health and uncertain futures. Those at risk before the pandemic are at even greater risk now without the structure that school and our onsite services provide. Our Youth and Sports teams have ensured local young people, many of whom live in poverty, are not in education or employment, and are at risk of engagement in crime, are seen, supported, and safeguarded through this crisis.

Thank you to our fundraisers

Throughout our Appeal, incredible members of our community went the extra mile and ran, walked, painted, skipped, rowed, cycled and hosted raffles to raise essential funds for Coram’s Fields. We are truly grateful for everyone’s efforts, you are all superheroes!

Here for young people

We adapted our Youth Programme completely at the start of the pandemic to provide safe and targeted support. We have been visiting our local estates, offering a new digital programme, delivering one to one employment and homework sessions, and running music, volunteering and fitness projects.

Through this lockdown, our door remains open for young people. Young people in crisis, or who need someone to talk to, can safely visit our Youth Centre. We’re walking and talking with our young people too, providing a safe space for them to speak about their mental wellbeing, or about whatever is important to them.

Our employment and homework sessions are continuing to provide tailored guidance, helping young people access jobs, placements, and mentorships with our partners and across the community. We’re providing training and accreditation opportunities to build young people’s experiences, confidence and networks. We’re training businesses too, helping them to learn how to be equipped and confident to support young people in placements.

Making a difference at a crucial time

“It was the most heartwarming experience today to see my kids on the sports pitch again after 5 months. Thanks to the generosity of the Coram’s Fields charity, my 3 children had a private Covid-secure session with a qualified sports coach at no cost to us and, despite spanning 7 years in age range, could enjoy learning the same sport together at the same time. Perhaps most touching of all was that the sports staff recognised my children and were delighted to see them: it shoes the genuineness of their care, the extent of their commitment, and how crucial the Corams Sports Programme is for building a sense of community and making children feel safe, confident, and happy during an unsettling time.” – Local parent

About Coram’s Fields

Our park and playground is a vital open green space and safe place for children to run around, discover nature and most importantly, play.

In addition, Coram’s Fields provides dedicated services for children, young people and their families.

Our free Youth Programme delivers open access sessions from our Youth Centre and specialised targeted work for young people most in need. We provide a safe space off the streets and help young people, many of whom are already involved in, or at risk of anti-social behaviour and offending, to build brighter futures. Here, young people can gain qualifications and receive life-changing mentoring, coaching and employment support.

Our free Sports Programme provides completely free sports sessions to local children and young people, from football to fencing, helping to boost their physical and mental health and develop core life skills.

Our Under 5’s Drop-In, open five days a week,  provides a range of activity programmes for children under 5, whilst also acting as a community hub for parents, where they can socialise and develop life-long friendships.

Our Out of School Club and Nursery provide high-quality, affordable childcare for local families, with children benefitting from access to the full seven acres of green space that Coram’s Fields provides.

Help protect Coram’s Fields and support your local community.
